Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Clinical Oncology, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 523505) (to commence as soon as possible on a temporary basis for three years, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability).

The Department provides an open, supportive, dynamic, and motivating academic environment with the possibility to work on cutting-edge research projects related to the single-cell spatial transcriptome study with integrated genomic data to elucidate the mechanisms of immunosuppression and cancer metastasis. The activities of PDF will be integrated into a multidisciplinary team with bioinformaticians, biologists, and clinical oncologists.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Sciences, Bioinformatics, Bioengineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline from the top 100 universities, with an excellent research publication record and strong computational programming skills. Preference will be given to those with previous experience in one or more of the following areas: development of methods for multi-omics data integration, application of artificial intelligence models in life science, single-cell data analysis, and spatial transcriptome analysis. Applicants should be self-motivated, able to work independently as well as in a team, and able to help supervise PhD students. They should also have excellent communication skills in written and spoken English, good troubleshooting skills, and effective collaboration skills. Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification preferably in Computer science, Bioengineering, Bioinformatics or related discipline, with at least 2 years of research experience. They should have good communication skills; be highly motivated, responsible, and able to work independently as well as in a team. Previous experience in next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis and expertise in the use of a high-level programming language such as R, Python or Perl for complex data analysis and use of shell script in Unix operating system is required. Programming, web application programming, or relational database experience are pluses. Those with a strong interest in cancer genomics and plan to pursue graduate research would have an advantage.

Applicants should possess at least a Master’s degree or an equivalent qualification, preferably in Pathology, Biomedicine or Medicine, with at least 3 years of research experience. Experience in pathology, tissue embedding, multiplex fluorescent immunohistochemistry, DNA/RNA extraction, RT-qPCR, Western blot, molecular techniques such as cloning and PCR, tissue culture techniques, and cancer studies would be advantageous. Applicants should have a strong sense of responsibility; good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; and a good command of written and spoken Chinese and English. The appointee will participate in cancer research projects involving clinical specimens and perform other general lab duties as assigned by the supervisor.

PDF Position one: Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow (PDF) in the Department of Clinical Oncology, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 515238), to commence as soon as possible for two years, with the possibility of renewal.

The Department provides an open, supportive, dynamic and motivating academic environment with the possibility to work on the cutting-edge research project related to a clinical translational study to utilize the artificial intelligence (AI) for predicting cancer patient clinical outcomes using the multi-omics data and explore the therapeutic targets to improve treatment outcomes. The activities of PDF will be integrated in a multidisciplinary team.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Chemistry or a related discipline, with a good research publication record and strong programming skills. Preference will be given to those with previous experience in one or more of the following areas: identification of drug targets for pharmaceuticals by computational chemistry in the viral-associated cancers, development of algorithms for multi-omics data integration, modeling of biomolecules and their interactions in tumor microenvironment, application of AI models in life science. Reseach Assistant Position: A Research Assistant I/II (RA I/II) in the Department of Clinical Oncology, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref: 515117) (to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal).

Applicants should possess a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Immunology, Biomedical Science, Bioengineering or a related discipline. They should have good communication and writing skills in English; be highly motivated, responsible, and able to work independently as well as in a team. Previous experience in handling clinical specimens (bloods and tumor formalin fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) tissues) and bench work for immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining, flowcytometry, sanger sequencing, protein assays, cell culture and next-generation sequencing (NGS) would be preferred. Those with a strong interest in cancer studies and plan to pursue postgraduate study for precision medicine in cancer would have an advantage. At least two-year lab experience is required for those to apply for RA I. The applicant will work in a multidisciplinary group and training will be provided for both wet and dry lab (bioinformatics) skills.
